Service levels

Two levels of translation, matched to the risk in your content, with optional add-ons. Every project starts with a free assessment and a quote.

Safety-critical translation

Human translation with independent revision and a dedicated safety message check.

Typical documents: user manuals, installation and maintenance instructions, safety instructions, warning labels and hazard notices.

  • Approved terminology glossary
  • Human translation by a native-speaking, sector-experienced linguist
  • Independent revision by a second linguist
  • Automated QA checks
  • Safety message check by back-translation
  • Terminology and QA Report

All safety instructions, warnings and hazard statements are translated at this level, whatever document they appear in.

Technical content translation

Machine translation with full post-editing by a sector-experienced linguist, following the ISO 18587 workflow.

Typical documents: datasheets, specifications and technical product content that contains no safety instructions.

  • Approved terminology glossary
  • Machine translation with full post-editing
  • Automated QA checks
  • Terminology and QA Report

Machine translation is used only with your written agreement. Any safety content found at assessment moves to safety-critical translation.

Optional add-ons

Available on request. None of these is part of the standard process.

Source-text review
A review of your English source for ambiguity and inconsistent terminology before translation, with tracked changes for your approval.
Standalone glossary
A terminology glossary built for your own authoring team or another supplier, without translation.
Desktop publishing
Layout adjustment where translated text runs longer than the source, so pages, callouts and tables stay usable.

What we are responsible for

Clear scope protects both sides. This is the division of responsibility on every project.

We are responsible for

  • Accurate translation of the source as supplied
  • Consistent use of the approved terminology
  • Completing every check in the agreed service level
  • Logging every source query and its answer

You remain responsible for

  • Technical accuracy and completeness of the source content
  • Approving the glossary and answering source queries
  • Conformity of the product and its documentation
  • Final approval of the translation for release
(EU) 2023/1230

The EU Machinery Regulation and your manuals

Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 replaces the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and applies from 20 January 2027.

Manufacturers must supply instructions and information in a language users can easily understand, as decided by each member state where the machinery is made available. Selling into several EU markets usually means several translations of the same manual, kept consistent through every revision.

Terminology control is what keeps those translations consistent. Your approved glossary and translation memory carry the same terms into every language and every update.
