Stage by stage
A hold point is a stop in the process. Work does not continue past it until its criteria are met.
01File assessment and quote
- What happens
- We review your files for word count, file formats, existing glossaries or translation memories, and the amount of safety content. This sets the service level and the quote.
- You receive
- An assessment summary and a quote.
- Your input
- Send the source files and your target languages.
02Terminology glossary
- What happens
- We extract the terms that must be translated the same way every time: part names, safety verbs and product names. Each term is given a target-language equivalent in context.
- You receive
- A draft glossary for your engineering team.
HP-AHold point A: glossary approval
- What happens
- Translation does not start until your engineering team has approved the glossary.
- Your input
- Approve or correct each term.
- If not approved
- The glossary is revised and resubmitted. Work returns to stage 02.
03Translation
- What happens
- A native-speaking linguist with sector experience translates in a professional translation tool, applying the approved glossary and translation memory. Where the source is unclear, the linguist raises a query instead of guessing.
- Your input
- Answer any source queries. Each query and answer is logged.
04Independent revision
- What happens
- A second qualified linguist compares the translation with the source, checking accuracy, completeness and use of the approved terms.
05Automated QA checks
- What happens
- Software checks run across the whole translation for terminology consistency, numbers, units, tags and formatting. Every finding is closed before release.
06Safety message check
- What happens
- Every signal word and hazard statement is back-translated and compared with the source. The check confirms that the hazard, its consequence and the avoidance action are all carried through, and that the signal word level is unchanged.
HP-BHold point B: release check
- What happens
- The translation is released only when all QA findings are closed, every safety message has passed its check and formatting is intact.
- If criteria are not met
- The translation returns to stage 03 for rework, then repeats revision and verification.
07Delivery
- What happens
- Translated files are returned in their original format with the Terminology and QA Report.
- You receive
- Translated files and the Terminology and QA Report.
- Your input
- Review and accept the delivery.
